Since the establishment of 'Pogoonyogoan', meaning 'House of Many Sick Women' in 1887 which was the very first women's hospital in Korea, Ewha Womans University Medical Center(EUMC) which has been taking a role as a leading frontier in the development of gynecology and it took its first step toward the conquest of women's cancer as it has established the first hospital in Korea to treat women's cancer as a general specialty care hospital.

'The Ehwa Womans University Cancer Center for Women' consists of Breast and Thyroid Cancer Center and Gynecologic Cancer Center, Recurrent Gynecologic Cancer Center and Clinical Genetics Center.
It provides a prompt one stop medical care service as it is equipped with the women-friendly treatment environment, the best specialists in women's cancer in the country and the most advanced medical devices and the cutting edge medical technology.

In addition, women's cancer hospital has a differentiated competitiveness with comprehensive medical care services for women's cancer as well as in the field of women's cancer research through synergy with the 'Women's Health Promotion Center' that specializes in examining women's diseases and the 'Ewha Women's Cancer Research Institute' that specializes in medical care service for women's cancer.

From now on, as the only affiliated hospital to the Womans University School of Medicine, the Ewha Womans University Cancer Center for Women aims to become the top class hospital for women's cancer, meaning, The First, The Best Glocal(Global + Local) Womans Cancer Hospital'. The initials of C-SMART refer to certain concepts such C for Creative, Confidence, Convenience and Comfort, S for Speed and Science, M for Management and Medical Tour, A for Alumni and Alternative, R for Research and Revival, while T for Trust and Technology.
